[Another wooden heart token has appeared on Jesper's pillow, this time with a 2 carved into it. Perhaps the approximation handwriting in that carving is familiar enough, should he wish to investigate the concept further.]

[when the caravans arrive from their travels to drop off supplies from not-so-far-off lands, certain parcels get pulled away and taken to go through customs. they are not for businesses nor for sale, but for individuals. the fact that they are for summoned individuals raise an eyebrow.

and so, through customs it goes, opened, inspected, and then—when none of the items are deemed as questionable—they are repackaged and sent to their designated recipients.

jesper will receive a couple of items. one is a pair of wooden combs, soaps, and several bottles that, upon closer inspection, will reveal to contain shampoo, conditioner, and lotions.

there is no letter explaining the contents of the parcel, but there is a single note. it is blank at first, until jesper holds it, and then swathes of scarlet magic will reveal writing, as if it were happening right in the moment by an invisible hand:

Please share these with Inej. Be well.]

It didn't make Wilhelm feel any better, but he'd undoubtedly feel worse if someone he knew had been snuffed out in the strike. He should have tried reaching out to Jesper days ago, but that's the thing about guilt. It makes you so sure that anything you say could unlock your secrets, that everybody can sense a shift in you.

[The first message is utterly devoid of any real concern, it's late but not drastically so, it's a simple check-in.

But as the hour drags later and later, her messages come quicker and quicker.]

[ On Christmas morning, there will be a box wrapped in gold paper waiting in front of the door of Jesper's room. A card on top bears his name in Julie's handwriting, and the inside wishes him a merry Christmas.

Inside the box is an ornate, hand-carved poker set in a matching wooden case. A small card inside says that playing for fun doesn't hurt, and if he ever needs to be distracted, she's willing to play as many hands as he wants.

The thrill of being with someone new never gets old, and Jesper endlessly throws himself into passionate embraces. This is not the first time he has seduced a person at a dinner table, but it is still a special situation because it is here and now and it is Kell. Every person is unique. He can tell that this may be a little new to Kell, he is coming along with him without question, but he seems nervous. Up until they are finally alone and the question has been asked.

Jesper smiles when the kiss comes as an answer and he returns it with fire. Their pleasant verbal foreplay and rising tension at the table means he has been hungry for this and waiting, pouring his withheld desire into Kell's mouth. He is confident as his tongue swipes against his lips, a silent request to open, so he can explore Kell. They both taste of the wine at the party and it is sweet.

While this position allows him to press his body up against Kell, pinning him between Jesper and the door, he wants the man horizontal. Jesper kisses him until he's barely breathing, turning them so that Kell's back is to the room instead of the door. He walks him backward, an arm securely wrapped around his waist to keep hold of him. Jesper has a grace about him in this, the practice of many lustful nights, and he kisses him a few more times on the journey before pushing him back on the bed.

He undoes his belt from his bright red banquet clothes and smirks down at Kell. "You ever done this before? Snuck away with a relative stranger?" He doesn't seem the type now that they're here, which is flattering of course.

"Who's hotel is closer, yours or mine?"

It's a lot harder to just find a place that's private and secluded in a strange city. Back home in Emunds Field there were barns and the woods and caves. In the castle there were all manner of little rooms that were ignored. Here...Mat isn't sure where they could manage it.

But he's in full agreement. They need to get somewhere behind a closed door, and as quickly as possible. He feels like his heart's a drum inside of him, thrumming and thudding in his ears. Everything feels just a bit funny, in a good way, and he just wants to be alone with Jesper. Where they won't be interrupted and they can just be together in the throes of love.

There will be time later to chide himself and argue back and forth in his mind over how stupid he's likely being. Why can't he just enjoy it for a bit? Why can't this be for him? Light knows he's watched his fellows fall in love and have their hearts made whole. For a time, at least. But he supposes that's a lesson to hold to - it doesn't really matter where you were or what dangers you knew about. Tragedy could strike at any moment. Maybe that's the point. The risk and the reward and all of that.

Maybe it's just his turn. Maybe for some people, love is just a rare thing, not easily earned or given. Or it just takes the right person. Who the fuck knows? He's never liked contemplating these things, it gives him a headache. But he knows it makes him feel a certain way to hear Jesper say 'I love you' like that, no flirtation and all honest emotion.

Almost makes him feel worthy of it.

"I will have you know I have become very mature and dignified and meditative over the past year." He can't even keep a straight face over that. It's too ridiculous.

Jesper laughs and pushes him playfully. "It's easy to meditate when it takes you to another world where anything you can imagine is created. Wait until you see my cabin, oh and I can show you television." Wanda showed him enough television that he was able to make one of his own, although he can only remember things she and Dean have shown him over time. But they're still worth seeing.

"I have a music room too, your flute ...." He pauses, realizing how revealing it is that he has Wylan's flute in his Horizon even now. "It's there, well, a version of it."

Jesper gets tipsy from the execution which is why he suggested later that night, so he can sober up. It would only make focusing on the Horizon and what they plan on doing there more difficult. Jesper's cabin is exactly as he described. Pretty and simple, it is a bright sunny day outside always. It is a stark contrast to the Crow Club which is permanently in the shadow, but he made this for that reason. The execution was troubling, but Jesper really did shake it off after an hour or two. The bitch is dead. No reason to waste any more time on her.

He would like to waste the rest of his time with Kell instead. They could probably both use an outlet right then. Jesper doesn't wait inside though, he can be found at the shooting range right next to the cabin. There is a table there that is filled with different types of guns that anyone can pick up and use for target practice. Jesper still favors his mother's revolvers most of the time, but sometimes he needs something else.

He is not currently using any of them though. Instead he is practicing with his telekinesis. Jesper tosses a handful of bullets in the air and catches them telekinetically, holding them and spinning them around him. It's been time like this spent in the Horizon that really helped him become an expert in his abilities. He throws his hand out and they shoot with lethal aim at the targets without needing a gun, the projectiles dangerous all on their own. The bandits in the Badlands can attest to that.

Jesper doesn't have his coat on in here, he is dressed very simply since soon enough Kell will be here and he'll have no clothes necessary. He puts out his hand and all of the bullets are called back from the targets to hover in his palm again before settling down. He glances up, sensing someone entering his space and hoping it'll be a sexy redhead to take his troubles away.

[ The gift from Claude had definitely been a surprise - but not a bad one and certainly not unwelcome. And while she had shown her appreciation to Claude, she isn’t about to withhold credit where credit is due. And frankly, any excuse to seek out Jesper is a good excuse for her.

The renovations for the Sarstina are well underway by the time she arrives that day with all her promised fabric samples (all Mags approved of course). Unsurprisingly no bright colours had made it into the final selection but Hilda had managed to convince her to add a couple of patterns in there that would prevent it from erring too close to the hospital aesthetic.

After getting one final approval from Mags that she can go ahead and order the appropriate amount for the upholstery, Hilda had commandeered Jesper for a quick lunch break. It’s only once they’re seated with their food in front of them that HIlda is quick to adopt a simpering pose, along with batting eyelashes and doe eyes. ]

( Jesper is currently not thinking or caring too much about the situation outside of getting to explode Nikolai's mouth thoroughly, his hands greedy as they move underneath his shirt to caress the soft skin of his back. The library seems quiet at the moment, he would feel people nearby if they were, his abilities making matter very clear to him. At the very least he thinks he can get away with being saucy if they're quick.

Jesper goes down to his knees right then and there, crafty fingers moving swiftly to Nikolai's pants to start to undo them. He does have a tendency to like public or semi-public sex so this is the mischief he tends to inspire other people into. He smirks up at Nikolai but does give him the option to stop him if he wants. They're doing this together. )

Shhh.
