I don't trust Thorne. I'm not saying the Free Cities are free from controversy, but Thorne's done some shit since the start.

( And Jesper is at his heart a protector. He was always the second in command for Kaz but also the one to look out for others, the gun at someone's back, the person aware of word on the street or trouble in the gang. Now he's emotionally compromised on another person in Thorne, but it's fine. He likes emotional complications. It's better than feeling nothing.

He leans forward to kiss Nikolai's neck, over to his shoulder, down his arm and then playfully stealing it so he can press his lips across the bicep and to each of his fingers.)

[Kell soaks all the affection that Jesper showers him with. It brings him gently down from what would otherwise be a draining crash. Instead, he's softly sinking into relaxed state, the heat of his ravenous desire slowly dissipating, dissolved by Jesper's kisses and caresses. Just as Jesper pulls out and rolls to his side, Kell is already seeking contact again; setting comfortably under his arm.

He groans at the mention of what else they can do to the bed. This is no empty joke, but a real threat. Kell knows how destructively excited he can be when he gets his hands on Jesper. Hands, lips, teeth, dick. Even still sweetly curled against Jesper, Kell feels the first flash of need. Saints, how much he wants him! This man drives him the most pleasant kind of crazy. He purrs against Jesper's skin.]

[Kell chuckles. When he's not furious and frustrated, he finds his forever precarious financial situation ironic to the point of funny. He's grown as a prince for fucks sake! Money was never issue for him. It is so annoying he has to remember that he doesn't have near infinite means here. When he's fed with being mad he can make himself see it as hilarious. For the sheer contrast with the rest of his life.

So it's quite surprising that relying on Jesper this evening feels so hot. Being provided for is completely new for him. New and unexpectedly exciting.]

Speaking of fucking-- [Kell begrudgingly resigns to reality that they can't go wild as they do in Horizon. They need rest, they need break and they need sleep. But it's worth it. It always is. Kell shifts slightly so he can remain plastered against Jesper with every inch of his skin, but he can also growl a promise into his ear.] I am going to fuck you so hard, we might as well break this bed in the morning.

[This is were they differ. Kell got totally blindsided by his feelings for Jesper. For how long he tried to avoid putting a name to them while he already has been hopelessly smitten. But there are reasons for his irrational behavior. For his blindness, for his denial. Daring to love has never ended good for him. Those two times that he could not fight it.]

It was to me. [Kell closes his eyes. It's easier like that. When nothing he sees distracts him, when he feels Jesper's warmth, hears his breath, the weight of his arms around him. He feels safe.] I don't really have feelings for people. Not the good ones. I ever fell in love twice in my life before. Neither felt like what I feel for you. How I feel with you. It's sex, yes, sex is great. I have no words to describe how much I want you. There's not a moment when I don't want to drag you to some secluded place and just fuck. Saints, I cannot count how many times I was daydreaming about fucking you while I should be working or studying. But it's not all. It would have been so easy if it was just sex.

[Kell opens his eyes, staring right at Jesper.]

It's not just sex. I understand nothing of this. I don't understand why I could just sit in the room with you, not even touching, just sharing the same space, and it would already make me happy. Pretty sure none of you lot are even allowed to be wealthy. Jaskier's outright rich at this point, and someday I will be too.

[ Jesper will always seek fortune. He likes money, he likes spending it, but there also is security in it. He grew up on a farm, most of their currency was in trade or enough to get by. They always had food (because he hunted) and their clothes were nice (because he mended them) so he wouldn't call them poor, but nothing like once he got to Ketterdam and had money to burn. It's amazing how wealthy someone can get when they don't gamble all their money away! Imagine that!

Some of his funds are starting to break even solely because he and Hilda will be beginning a business and starting from the ground up can be hard, but the two of them are incredibly street savvy and skilled. They'll be making money on that before long.

He smiles indulgently and leans in when Kell whispers that they're going to have bed-breaking sex in the morning, and he kisses him sweetly. ]

Deal, sweetheart.

[ He can pay for a bed! He can also fix a bed without needing to pay for it, better than new. Jesper has now upgraded an inn so he's quite good at all of this. They maybe can't have sex as constant as in the Horizon but he's content to let them enjoy it when they want to and not because of the desperation of keep going, keep going, keep going. Those are both good experiences, he has a mood for each, and his mood is enjoying this right now. Jesper lets his hand wander over Kell's body, down his shoulder and side, curving around to give his ass a nice little squeeze. ]

Love feels different with each person because it is different. The relationship is singular.

[ Jesper doesn't feel the same way with any of his lovers, they're each a part of his heart separately, because their wants and needs change too. It's hard for him to explain to people who don't see it the way he does, because it's just a feeling. His heart is in many pieces but it's whole too.

He laughs when Kell gets super horny there for a moment, leaning over to kiss his shoulder affectionately. Listen, he's hot as fuck, he knows that. The one thing no one can ever doubt about him is how good he is in bed. Kell is also great in bed, they practically set themselves on fire every time. He knows that Kell desires him insanely and it's very satisfying, he likes being body worshipped. It makes him into a pampered pet in many ways. ]

Viktor's to receive an honorary doctorate from The Grand Academy of General Science. He doesn't want to attend or celebrate it, from what I've gathered. [ Or Viktor outright told him, but: details. ] It's next month so we have some time to plan yet, but what are your thoughts on making this happen?

Of course he doesn't want to. I'm surprised when he leaves the lab at all. Also he doesn't like attention, which I'll never understand.

We'll just have to force him into it. I think he'll be secretly pleased.

You and me both, especially when he's more than earned this. What's better to celebrate than that? I'm thinking the same about being pleased though we might have to get through some grumbling to get to that point. There's certainly been some already while I've been working on getting him to entertain the idea of going.

More people talking to Viktor about it might help but then again, so might getting the word out further than where I've posted it on the workshops' calendar. I've already sort of promised him I wouldn't send out any invitations, but there's nothing like leaving a good loophole in there.

Okay so what we need to do is get him to agree to go, and then when he reluctantly does that, I'll tell everyone to be there to support him. We can make signs and cheer obnoxiously loud.

See, that's exactly the sort of thing we need! I reached out to Hilda to see if she could make some of those cutouts she's made before since I feel like those are also required for cheering. If you need any help with the signs, I can offer whatever questionable art skills I have to put to good use towards them.

I'm still talking to Viktor about it all so I'll keep working on it, but the more people talking to him about going wouldn't hurt. Probably.

You've got a good point there. We'll see what Hilda can do and then that'll give us what to do from there. I still say plan for this happening since if there's anyone persuasive enough to sweep Viktor into going along with this, it's absolutely Hilda.

I don't doubt that for an instant. If only you could've seen her in action back during the war or even back at the academy.

[ Claude considers pointing out it's one of the many reasons they'd become friends in the first place with that skill in common, but what Jesper says next - causes him to pause and reread the words a few times. Ah. Yes, he's familiar with that, too. ]

Yeah, I have. For all that we're talking about Hilda being convincing, sometimes that ability can work both for and against. It might take a bit for her to come around, but don't give up on it.

[ One morning, Jesper will find a wrapped package outside his door at the inn. Underneath the wrapping paper is a wooden box with what looks like a simple lock. It's not quite that since the key is enchanted to respond only to the person who turns it for the first time and no one else, making it a perfect way to hide something in view. Or simply serve as storage for less secretive things, should its new owner choose to do so.

Inside there's an assortment of gun maintenance items for Jesper to keep his beloved revolvers in peak condition, and they've been carefully chosen to provide a variety of options to experiment around with to see which ones work best. Some time was spent asking around for the best of each.
