"Who's hotel is closer, yours or mine?"

It's a lot harder to just find a place that's private and secluded in a strange city. Back home in Emunds Field there were barns and the woods and caves. In the castle there were all manner of little rooms that were ignored. Here...Mat isn't sure where they could manage it.

But he's in full agreement. They need to get somewhere behind a closed door, and as quickly as possible. He feels like his heart's a drum inside of him, thrumming and thudding in his ears. Everything feels just a bit funny, in a good way, and he just wants to be alone with Jesper. Where they won't be interrupted and they can just be together in the throes of love.

There will be time later to chide himself and argue back and forth in his mind over how stupid he's likely being. Why can't he just enjoy it for a bit? Why can't this be for him? Light knows he's watched his fellows fall in love and have their hearts made whole. For a time, at least. But he supposes that's a lesson to hold to - it doesn't really matter where you were or what dangers you knew about. Tragedy could strike at any moment. Maybe that's the point. The risk and the reward and all of that.

Maybe it's just his turn. Maybe for some people, love is just a rare thing, not easily earned or given. Or it just takes the right person. Who the fuck knows? He's never liked contemplating these things, it gives him a headache. But he knows it makes him feel a certain way to hear Jesper say 'I love you' like that, no flirtation and all honest emotion.

Almost makes him feel worthy of it.

"Yours."

Jesper got here first and the very first thing he did was scope out the area so he knew where everything of importance was. Their separate inns were high on that list, and also how to get in and out of them. Not only for the two of them, but he likes to know all exit options when he stays somewhere. He already has a pretty good lay of the land, his mind creating an internal map as he walks around. Except he got distracted by Mat and now he's going to continue to be.

Jesper takes his hand and tugs him in the direction of said inn, threading their fingers together. They can explore Luna together later. After an emotional outburst like this, Jesper needs to get his hands on Mat's skin, he needs to strip him bare like his heart was. He doesn't make them run although it would be funny, but they are definitely not going slow and taking their time.

It takes all his patience and strength to keep himself from being far more inappropriate once they get into the inn because they still need to get to his room. While Jesper would usually be tempted to press him up against places and tease them both, right then, that is not what he wants. He doesn't want wild passion and abandon, he wants something more intimate. They should get to be happy. He thinks about how he and Mat held each other after the nightmares, how they found what meager comfort they could with one another, and how it all brought them here.

As soon as they are inside his room Jesper cups Mat's face again and kisses him with slow and sweet purpose. He got a glimpse of one of the beds, not really caring which one is Mat's, because they need to be on one now. He walks him toward it but not with too much speed, like he plans on enjoying every part of this. Like he plans to make love to Mat, in ways he's subtly done for a long time, and now no longer has to pretend otherwise.

As the door closes behind them, Mat loops a sash over the outside door handle. Just in case. Jon's a rather monkish fellow, he'd hate to scandalize his holiday roommate. He does so with a grin, wide and sunny and brightening his eyes. His mouth smiles often, his eyes not as much.

"Mmm, wait wait wait."

Loathe as Mat is to pull away, there'll be hell to pay if he wrinkles or dirties his cloak. Even if it happened while distracted by that force known as love.

"The Lady Yennefer will have my hide if I don't take proper care with my good cloak." He slips it off with a quick kiss to Jesper's lips and hangs it on the hook. "Much as I'd like to lie with you in a bed of furs."

Another time. Right now, it really doesn't matter. He just wants to hold onto this feeling, this giddy thing that's wrapped them both. And express it in the most ancient and intimate way possible.

As soon as that's dealt with, Mat's hopping onto the bed and kicking off his boots.

Jesper whines when he says wait but it's mostly playful, he lets Mat do whatever he needs with the door and cloak. He shrugs out of his own signature coat and hangs it with Mat's, not that it ever really has to worry about wrinkling with a Durast's hand. It looks sweet to see them together like that, but maybe he's being overly sentimental, still imagining a life they could have together, someday.

He is already stepping out of his own boots at the door so that by the time he gets to the bed he's hopping a little and laughing, falling onto it next to Mat. He's always wearing layers but especially here, a long sleeved crisp white shirt under a brightly colored vest; Jesper is a snappy dresser for all seasons. Although he wouldn't mind getting rid of every piece of clothing he owns in exchange for extra time in bed with Mat. They have days together during this trip, even if it means they'll have to sneak around. It'll be worth it.

Naturally Jesper has lube with him because he is who he is, and he has an infinite amount of secret pockets to all his clothes. This one is in his vest instead of his jacket at least, and he drops it to the side for when they want it later. Being prepared comes with the territory, although they'll still have to negotiate the who, considering the two of them are perfect switches and gloriously well-suited in that way.

He slides his fingers into Mat's hair and tugs it lightly to tilt his head back, leaning forward to brush his mouth along his exposed throat. "Any preference, love?" Jesper murmurs into his skin, licking a piece of it, his lips gentle.

"You know I never do." Fucked or fucking, it feels good either way. Mat's never really cared, it's rare he's in a particular mood for one or the other. He just wants to be in bed with Jesper, any way, all of the ways, it doesn't matter.

He groans approvingly at the feel of lips on his neck, already tugging his billowing shirt out of his trousers. Thornean clothes, thankfully, are relatively easy to get out of. No buttons or complicated ties, easy to slip on...and off. And he's in quite a hurry to get them off. There's no desire to rush through this, he's just very eager to feel skin against skin.

Not that he needs any stimulation to be ready, he's already hard against the fabric of his trousers. Jesper just does that to him. Hardly anything and he's good to go, aroused and eager.

"Could always take turns."

The layers are amusing rather than annoying because of how much they just want to get out of them so they can feel that familiar but lovely bare skin. Jesper helps him get off his shirt and does his own, and then he pushes Mat back onto the bed, sliding on top of him eagerly. That seems to answer at least one question for himself. Jesper kisses him slowly then, rocking their hips together, hard against the fabric.

"I think I want to do something truly dramatic and clichely romantic." Jesper nuzzles his nose and kisses down his throat, lavishing both sides of his neck with licks and tiny sucks. He has thoroughly put his mouth on every part of Mat's body by now but he still likes to do it as much as possible. It's tasty, it's not his fault. He runs his tongue all the way from Mat's belly button down to the seam of his pants.

He moves back so he can undo said pants and pull them off, gray eyes gazing up to look at Mat's long lanky body while he does. "I want to make love to you. I want for every moment I'm touching you, I'm fucking you, for you to remember how I feel about you."

Mat laughs, tossing his tangled mop of curls as he props himself up on his elbows to look down at Jesper, fully enjoying all the attention.

"How's that any different than what we normally do?"

Fucking, making love...the latter's just a more polite way of saying the former as far as he's concerned. He always knows how Jesper feels about him, they're neither of them subtle or shy about it exactly. Maybe in saying the words, at least for him, but not in expressing it when they're together.

But maybe Jesper can enlighten him. Clearly he has something specific in mind.

He cheekily looks up at Mat and shrugs a shoulder. "I don't know, but I think I've got an idea." The truth is that Jesper's never really approached it this way either. Maybe this is the first time he's gone into sex wanting to make it all romantic and emotional, rather than fun and physical. Or all of the above, everything it can be.

Jesper is more than happy to play a little first though and he kicks out of his own clothes so they're not in the way. He settles down between Mat's legs comfortably, like he belongs there and he very well thinks he does sometimes. He runs his fingers along Mat's leg before hiking it up on his shoulder. He peppers kisses along the length of his cock and lathers his balls with his tongue to tease. He opens the lube bottle and wets up both hands, he doesn't have to look to do it, it all moves the way he wants like any liquid.

Maybe there is a difference. How the hell would Mat actually know? Maybe a whole bunch of things have been utterly fucked up by his being here, but he's found Jesper, and he's selfish enough to consider that fair. There's bound to be plenty of other people who can save the world. How the hell many people are ever going to love him?

Still grinning, he encourages Jesper on without shame. His hips lift and he moans in pleasure, full hard and flushed.

Jesper never actually got to have sex with Wylan, who was the closest thing he had to a love like Mat. Except he barely got to be with the merchling, a few weeks of sweet kisses and light heated exchanges, but it was the feelings that were new then. He thought they had a future, that was the difference, but the possibility of a future isn't the same thing as having nearly a year of a real relationship. Of learning Mat inside out, of feeling like every minute with him was not enough.

Reality beats fantasy. The beauty of their love is that it is built on the strongest of foundations. Friendship. Connection.
